Dr. Jesse Noote, composer
Dr. Jesse Noote has been a choral music educator for twenty years. In 2007, he was voted the Outstanding Young Music Educator of the Year by the Mississippi Music Educators Association. Soon after winning this award, he decided to pursue graduate studies in choral conducting where he enjoyed singing, conducting, and traveling all over the world. While still in graduate
school, he took the choral director position at Presbyterian Christian School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In 2016, upon completing only two years of service at PCS, his colleagues voted him Teacher of the Year.
Along with academic posts, Dr. Noote has served as a music minister for various churches and denominations over the years. Currently, he is the Director of Music Ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg.
He loves serving the choral community as a clinician and adjudicator, has a passion for music literacy, and also enjoys arranging and composing. While some of Dr. Noote’s compositions have been commissioned, most of his works have been born out of the particular needs of his own ensembles, making them accessible. His works have been performed by high school choirs,
college choirs, and church choirs.
Dr. Noote earned his Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from Belhaven University. He also attained his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Choral Conducting from The University of Southern Mississippi.
Dr. Noote lives in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with his wife, Leah, and their three children, Carter, Kason, and Haven.
